DU QUOIN, IL - Sunday, August 26, is Veterans Day at the Du Quoin State Fair! We're proud to partner with the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs to offer free admission for veterans at this year's fair. All veterans and their immediate family will receive free admission to the fair with proper identification.
Also at the 2018 Du Quoin State Fair - a pair of traveling memorials to honor our veterans. The "Fallen Heroes Traveling Memorial Wall" will be on display on Sunday, August 26, just outside the Heartland Coca-Cola Expo Hall. This memorial tribute honors more than 260 Illinois soldiers who gave their lives in service to our country, showing an image of the soldier with his or her rank, branch of service, date of death, and hometown.
On display throughout the entire run of the Du Quoin State Fair - the "Portrait of a Soldier" art exhibit inside the Heartland Coca-Cola Expo Hall. This exhibit is a traveling display of hand-sketched portraits of fallen servicemembers from Illinois who have been killed since September 11, 2001. The portraits are copies of the original, which were given to the fallen soldier's family, and the exhibit travels throughout the state of Illinois.
