Overview

As a veteran, there are education programs available which you and your family may use for a wide variety of approved education and training programs including: apprenticeship and on-the-job training, college degree and certificate programs, flight training, and correspondence courses. Each program provides different benefits to different groups of individuals and offers a specified number of “months” of benefits.

Military Records

The Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs (IDVA) maintains military records on many Illinois veterans. If you are an Illinois native or have ever visited one of our Veteran Service Officers, we may have a copy of your DD 214 on file.
Education

Run by the Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs (IDVA), all five Illinois Veterans’ Homes are fully staffed with caring and dedicated professionals who provide quality long-term skilled care and services to resident members.

National Resource Directory

The National Resource Directory (NRD) is a website that connects servicemembers, veterans, their families, and caregivers to programs and services that support them.
Veterans Legal Aid

For veterans seeking legal counsel, the Illinois Armed Forces Legal Aid Network offers free legal aid on a wide-variety of issues and concerns.

As a veteran, you offer a unique set of skills and experiences that are transferable to many industries. Get on-the-job experience through the many entrepreneurships available to you.
Fishing and Hunting Permits

For help in choosing or applying for any of these programs, contact the nearest Veteran Service Officer. Our VSOs are ready and willing to assist in determining your eligibility, discussing available options, and submitting the appropriate applications.
